The activities mentioned above, included:
In the Natzis' Auschwitz concentration camp a brutal activity developed among German "doctors", most of them being members of the infamous SS. Treating patients as experimental objects, they carried out experiments from the field of medicine, genetics and many more. Those "researches" were mostly for ideological purposes of the racist Natzi's theory and were completely apart from any doctor's practice ethics.
The activities mentioned above, included:
- The effects of starvation, which included observation the weakest prisoners, killing them by a deadly injection and carrying out research on the dead body.
- Creating a set of skeletons including 86 (29 women and 57 men) people with different bone structures, in different age and sex. They were selected by SS-Hauptsturmf黨rer dr Bruno Beger and then transported to KL Natzweiler-Struthof and killed.
- Testing medications ordered by IG Farbenindustrie. It included experimenting with infectious diseases, infecting prisoners causing high death rate. For those acts responsible were doctors SS Friedrich Entress, Helmut Vetter and Eduard Wirths.
- Experiments on hypothermia and seeking for new methods for recovering people from that state.
From Auschwitz, 76 prisoners were transported to Reichsuniversitat StraBburg, for anatomic research. All of them were killed.
The 2nd World War hides many secrets, uncomfortable for some, sometimes painful, but the truth is that what we faced in Auschwitz was reality and we can't let it go just like that. In order to prevent such sick acts in the future, we need to study and understand the past, so in the future - no matter who's fighting who - no human will do such thing to another living being.
