If you come across practitioners who do not work alongside the traditional

Back pain can be very painful and debilitating. It can last for a day and for some people it can last for many months even years. There are many ways to treat back pain with the most common being the traditional methods to treat and alleviate the pain. However, there is also the option to use complimentary treatment. This option is now becoming more popular over the last few years to treat back pain and a whole host of health problems and conditions.
Some people have tried traditional and conventional treatment but have found that this has done very little to improve their condition and they have turned to complimentary treatment while other people use a combination of both.

If you find that the traditional treatment has not being effective and you are considering using complementary treatment then the following guide will give you a better idea of how to go about it.

Seek a practitioner who is an expert in both traditional and complimentary treatment. In many cases combining the two type of treatments can work therefore, a practitioner who has a working knowledge of both disciplines is in a better position to determine how effective complimentary treatment will be.
One of the reasons that you feel less stressful when you visit your doctor is because you feel comfortable in their presence. The same applies when it comes to using a practitioner who provides complimentary treatment. If you feel uncomfortable then this will increase tension and you will not be able to open up. Therefore, it is important that you get on well with the person.

When choosing a practitioner usually the best way is getting a recommendation from a trusted source. For example, your doctor would a suitable person to ask as they will know someone who they trust and will have your best interests at heart.

Before choosing a practitioner of complementary medicine ask them if they have any experience of treating back pain. A person who has experience of treating back pain and back problems will have a greater understanding of your needs and will be in a better position to treat them compared to someone who has no experience at all.

If you come across practitioners who do not work alongside the traditional medical profession then you should ask them why. When both traditional and complementary treatments work together they can provide a better and more effective service. If the person cannot give you a valid reason then it is advisable to continue your search.
